Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography (MIIGAiK) and MIIGAiK Extraterrestrial Laboratory (MExLab) took part in the All-Russian scientific conference "International Map Year in Russia" was organized at Russian State Library in Moscow on 25–28 October 2016 and presented in Cartographic exhibition in Pashkov House, where new planetary maps of various celestial bodies produced by MExLab have been presented. The Moon, Mercury and Phobos wall maps were printed under support of the Russian Science Foundation (project # 14-22-00197).

Besides MIIGAiK a lot of other universities and organizations from different regions of Russia attended the conference such as: Moscow Lomonosov State University, Saint Petersburg State University, Geography Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow), Bryansk State University, Voronezh State University, Altai State University, The Institute for Water and Environmental Problems (Barnaul), Institute of Geophysics (Ekaterinburg), Baikal Institute of Nature Management (Ulan-Ude) etc.
The future of cartography was widely discussed at the conference including the problem of planetary cartography.
